PREVCO Dual Seal Vent Plugs

While standard single seal SAE plugs are often used in subsea applications, these components were designed for hydraulic applications and not specifically intended to seal under repeated applications of external pressure.

PREVCO’s line of dual seal vent plugs is designed to address this problem and match the high reliability of our dual seal Subsea Housing designs. Vent plugs are commonly installed on Subsea Housings to assist in vacuum testing and dry gas back filling. They are also highly recommended for larger volume designs to assist in safely removing the end caps by relieving any internal vacuum/pressure buildup prior to and during opening and closing. All PREVCO standard Subsea Housing designs include a dual seal vent plug.

Number 3 Vent Plug:

PREVCO’s #3 dual seal vent plug is a modified SAE #3 plug, having an added piston seal added for maximum reliability. The vent port is a modified SAE port design, however it will accept any standard SAE #3 (single seal) plug. Plugs are available in both Stainless Steel (316) and Titanium (grade 5). Internal and external hex head forms are available as well.

Number 4 Vent Plug:

PREVCO’s #4 dual seal vent plug is a modified SAE #4 plug, having an added face seal for increased reliability. The vent port is a standard SAE #4 design with one additional restriction; the spot face sealing surface needs to have a surface finish of at least 32 micro-inches. As most commonly machined ports meet this constraint, our No. 4 dual seal plug can be retrofitted to many existing designs which currently use a standard single seal port. Plugs are available in both Stainless Steel (316) and Titanium (grade 5).
